Gas Safety Tips

Clifton’s of Wrexham are committed to safety in the home and so we have written these gas safety tips for your information.

1. ALL GAS APPLIANCES NEED REGULAR MAINTENANCE
   
2. ALL GAS APPLIANCES IN RENTED ACCOMMODATION MUST HAVE AN ANNUAL SERVICE WITH A LANDLORDS CERIFICATE ISSUED.
   
3. Only allow a GAS SAFE REGISTERED ENGINEER carry out gas installations of servicing.
   

Gas Central Heating Safety

• Have your boiler serviced annually.
• Is the timer / programmer set correctly?
• Fit thermostatic radiator valves in all rooms to allow you to control temperatures – don’t heat up rooms unnecessarily.
• Ensure all pipe are lagged / insulated correctly.
• Older boilers can be inefficient – modern combination or condensing boilers are much more energy efficient.

General Gas Safety Tips

If you believe you can smell gas;

• Turn the gas supply off immediately at the meter.
• Extinguish all sources of ignition.
• Do not smoke.
• Do not operate electrical light or power switches.
• If necessary, ventilate the building by opening a window or door.
• Ensure access to premises can be made.
• Report the gas escape to Transco on 0800 111 999
